Subject:  Problem w getting into the GUI through Vista

The customer has the option to choose from private or public networks when the Vista is being initialized on a computer.     They often choose public.    The customer or outside tech often can't get to the GUI.    We have been changing the Network Connection setting to Private Network.    The user gets right into the GUI.    This has worked at least a half a dozen times for me.    It has worked for others.

Click on the Vista flag in the lower left hand corner > Control Panel > View Network status and tasks (under Network and Internet).    Check out your network for Public -vs- Private network. Click on Customize to change.
